Running Accomplishments:

I have just recently started running.  I ran my first race on April 29, 2017  It was a 5K race in Singapore.  My time was 18:37.4.  I hope to continue running for enjoyment for a long time, and run in races occasionally.

Since my first race I have lowered my 5K time to 17:47.58 (June 30, 2017, Singapore)

And then again in August 2017 (while staying with my grandparents in Champaign, Ill.) I lowered my 5K time again to 17:19 (non-certified course, could have been longer or shorter, but probably fairly close).

I have also run 61 sec for  400m, and 2:13 for 800m.

Short-Term Running Goals:

I want to increase my training and become faster.  I would eventually like to become the fastest in my age group.

Long-Term Running Goals:

I would love to continue running as long as I can.

Personal:

I am Vietnamese-American and I am 15 years old.  I am home schooled so do not run on a team. 

I started running in the Fall of 2016 when my mom and I were living in Salt Lake City.

 I love running everyday.

My favorite subjects are History and Math.

I would love to be a history teacher or math teacher someday.

I am currently (since Oct 2017) living in Japan because my step-father, who is an architect, is working here for 3 years on a large project.

I ran a very easy 3 miles around the neighborhood at about 8 min/mile.  Then I ran 6 hills (fast up the hills and slow down).

 

I ate too much ice cream and ginger ale yesterday, so  I felt a little sluggish today.

Happy Valentines Day!

Today I ran 3 miles around the neighborhood.  I ran at a moderate pace of about 6:40/mile.   Not too slow but not too fast.  Then I finished off with a very easy 3 miles with my mom.

Last night we went to TGIF Fridays.  I ate way too much!  But I felt I had a lot of energy on todays run.

Ran this morning with my mom.  We ran to the treatment plant in city creek canyon.  It was an easy run so I didnt time it, but I think it took about an hour.

Later my mom and I went and bought new running outfits for spring.  Can wait to wear it.

I ran an easy 3 miles around the neighborhood with my mom, and then by myself I ran some hills.  Very easy pace today.  Maybe about 8 min/mile.

Have visitors from out of town staying with us this weekend, so running will be a little difficult.

We have had guests staying with us so things have been real hectic.  I am not going to be able to run until after the holiday.  It is a little frustrating, but oh well, enjoying company is also fun.

With it being "President's Day" this holiday weekend I had a plan to research and write an essay in my journal about who I think is the best of the lesser known presidents of the USA.   I won't be able to do it with so much going on, so I think I will try and do it during this week.  First I was thinking about Grover Cleavland, but maybe he is too well known.

Our guests that were staying for the weekend finally left last night.  It was fun having them here, but nice to finally get back to normal.

It was good to finally be able to go out and run today.  First I ran 3 miles around the neighborhood with my mom at about 7:00 min/mile pace.  Then I ran 7 steep hills.

This afternoon I did 100 jumping squats.  I think I need to develop more muscle strength.  I am not really sure how to go about it.  I am thinking of adding some weight training to my training, but I am not sure how to best do it.

This morning I ran three miles around the neighboord at about 6:40 min/mile pace.  I felt good today.  I thne met my mom at home and we did another three miles.  This time slower at about 8:00 min/mile pace.  

My mom had a little accident toward the end of the run.  We were both sprinting the last little bit, and my mother tripped on an uneven spot in the road and fell.  

We just got back from the doctors, and she had a broken thumb on her right hand, two scraped up and bruised knees, and a scraped and bruised elbow.

I hope this won't turn my mom off from running.

Started with three easy miles around the neighborghood, then I did three more miles at a faster pace around 6:40 min/mile.  Mom is all bruised and sore from her fall yesterday, so she decided not to run today.

After I finished my run, I did 60 jumping squats.

This morning mom was feeling a little better. She was not so sore, so she joined me for an easy run around the neighborhood.  It was a very easy pace about 8:00 mine per mile.  After that I did 7 steep hills by myself.

This morning I ran 3 miles alone around the neighborhood.  I ran 30 seconds of sprinting and 30 seconds of regular running and repeated that for 3 miles.  My average time for the 3 miles was about 6:40 min/mile.  I am thinking that I need to get that down to about 6:30 min/mile.

After this I ran another 3 miles with my mother.  She said that maybe if the weather is nice next week, we will go down to the West high school track, and I can run some 400s on the track.  I have never done that before, so I don't know what to expect.

Ran 5 easy miles in the snow this morning.  This evening I am going to San Francisco with my mom for a couple of days, so probably no running the next couple of days.
