Running Accomplishments:

I have just recently started running.  I ran my first race on April 29, 2017  It was a 5K race in Singapore.  My time was 18:37.4.  I hope to continue running for enjoyment for a long time, and run in races occasionally.

Since my first race I have lowered my 5K time to 18:07.28 (June 15, 2017)

I have also run 61 sec for  400m, and 2:13 for 800m.

Short-Term Running Goals:

I want to increase my training and become faster.  I would eventually like to become the fastest in my age group.

Long-Term Running Goals:

I would love to continue running as long as I can.

Personal:

I am Vietnamese-American and I am 15 years old.  I am home schooled so do not run on a team. 

I started running in the Fall of 2016 when my mom and I were living in Salt Lake City.

 I love running everyday.

My favorite subjects are History and Math.

I would love to be a history teacher or math teacher someday.

Returned home from San Francisco last night.  I didnt get to bed until late last night so I couldnt get up early to run.

I will try to start running again tomorrow.

The weather was beautiful today.  I am really looking forward to spring.

I was hoping to run today, but this morning when I woke up I was all congested in my head and I was having troubles breathing.  I actually feel terrible.  I wonder if I caught a cold or something on the plane or airport the other day.

I feel like I am really getting out of shape.  It will almost be a week since I ran.

Today I finally was able to go running.  It was the first time since being sick so I went a little slow.  I ran 3 miles at a pace of 7:30 per mile, then another 3 miles with my mom at a slower pace.

It felt really cold today.  I am looking forward to the warmer weather later this week.

This morning I did some easy jogging, and then I did a work out that I borrowed from Brandon that I met on the blog here.  In the workout I ran 2 x 800m 2 x 300m with 60 sec rest in between each rep and 4 min rest between sets.  Then I finished of this morning with a slow run with my mom.

I think running the reps this early after being sick might have been a mistake.  I was a little light headed doing them.  I am sure I could have done them faster if I was at 100%.

Also, a big shout out to Brandon for showing me how to make tables.

This morning I ran 6 miles around the neighborhood.  I am feeling a little sore from yesterday so I ran easy (about 7:20 per mile).  

I think my mom has got was I had last week.  She isn"t feeling well, so she didn"t run with me today.

Today I did another speed workout.  I ran 10 x 200 meters.  I ran the 200 meters as fast as I could.  I was not sure how long the recovery was supposed to be between the sprinting repetitions so I jogged for about 2 minutes or until I could get my breath back.  I was going to run 12 repetitions, but I could only do 10.  I will graudually work my way up to do the last two.

Ran about 7 miles in the neighborhood.  I ran at a comfortable pace of about 7:20 per mile.  I had a big strawberry mango milk shake last night and I felt a little heavy running today, but it was worth it.  It was a really delicious milk shake.  :)

I have been trying to improve my speed recently.  Up until now I have not ever run any races, but I have been thinking that I would like to run some races or at least at least run a time trial to see how well I could do in a race.

I think that when it warms up and I no longer have to wear winter clothes running, I will try running a mile to see how fast I can run it.  I think I can run it under 6 minutes.  

This week has been a good week, and I am looking forward to next.

I was hoping it was going to warmer today, but still seemed very cold outside today.

I ran some 400s today.  I was going to do 10, but because at number 7 and 8 I started to really slow down, I stopped after 8.

After the 400s I did some very relaxed running with my mom.

Ran an easy 8 miles today at an initial pace of about 7:40 min per mile, but the last 2 miles were run closer to 8:00 min per mile.  I didn't get a lot of sleep last night and I think that was the cause of my lack of energy today.  Plus  I am still tired from running 400s yesterday.

Ran a very very easy 6 miles at 9:00 min per mile pace.

I was going to do 100m repeats today, but after trying the first I decided I didn't have enough energy to do them today.

Ran 10 miles this morning easy.  The first 7 miles was at about 8:00/mile pace, and the last 3 miles was at about 7:20/mile.

I have really felt tired this week.

Ran 2 x mile today with 1 mile of easy running after each.  I wanted to see how fast I could run a mile.  I am still not feeling a lot of energy but I guess I did okay. I think I can probably take off another 30 seconds or so from the mile time, if I were feeling better and not wearing my winter stuff.  Afterwards, my mom and I ran about 6 miles.

I finished the week off with a 10 mile run.  I felt tired at first, but after I got set into a pace I felt pretty good.  I ran the 10 miles at about 7:30/mile.

Yesterday we went to an Asian Buffet for lunch.  I ate way too much food, but it was delicious, and nowI am beginning to feel more like myself today.  I had much more energy today.  Maybe I have not been eating enough.  :)

This morning I ran 6 miles at 6:50/mile, then I ran another 4 miles with my mom at about 8:00/mile.

Today I did a fun easy run in the neighborhood.  I ran the first 6 miles by myself and the last 4 miles with my mom.  The pace was an easy 8 min/mile.

Today I wanted to do some speed work so I ran 200m, 400m, 800m, 800m, 400m, 200m.

I felt really good today and was happy with my times.

Today it was raining so hard when I wanted to run.  My mom took us to her sports club, and we ran on the treadmill.  It was my first time to go there and my first time to run on a treadmill.  I didn't like it at all.  I ran 4 miles starting at 7 min/mile and working down to 6 min/mile.  

I hope it isn't raining tomorrow.

It was winter outside this morning.  I ran 10 miles at 7:30/mile pace.  It felt good today though.  Maybe because it was so cold I had to run fast to keep warm. :)

It was nice and warm when I started running this morning.  I did 3 miles by alternating sprinting 100 m and  jogging 100 m .  I ran the 100 m in 15 to 17 seconds.

This has been the hardest workout I have done so far since I started running. Thought I would die.  :)

After that I ran at 8:00/per mile in the rain to complete 10 miles.

I am wondering if I am doing too much distance.  I have noticed that most of the other people here on the blog my age do not do that much.

Last night on TV I watched the IAAF international X-country championships form Uganda Africa.  It was the first time for me to see a X-country race.  It was kind of exciting.  It looks so fun to run on the grass.  The Kenyan and Ethiopian runners are so fast.

After watching that on TV last night, I decided I wanted to see how fast I could run 3 miles this morning.  I did it in 18:27 (6:09 min/mile).  I think I could have run faster if I weren't wearing my winter running clothes and if it weren't raining.

After I ran at a 7:30 min/mile pace to complete 10 miles.

I am surprised that I wasn't more tired.  I still feel fairly fresh.

This morning I did another hard workout.

First I ran 1 mile, 800m, 400m and 200m for time.

Then I finished off 10 miles first at a pace of 7:00/mile , but at the end I mentally was not able to maintain it and dropped to 7:30/mile.  I know I could have kept up the 7:00/mile pace, but mentally I gave in.  I am mad at myself for that.

My mother is a corporate trainer and goes all over to do training.  That is why we move a lot and I have done home schooling.  Starting in May, she is going to have to do an awful lot of traveling, and so she is wondering what will be best for me.  We are considering my going to stay with my father in Hawaii, or with my grandparents in Illinois.  I am not in favor of either one.  I really like it here in Utah.  I wanted to be here for the summer.  Going to Hawaii sounds nice, but I do not get along with my fathers girl friend.  I dont like the idea of going to Illinois either.

Got an early start on my run this morning because I wanted to get finished before it started raining.  Ran 10 miles at 8:00/mile.

I have been hearing a lot about "Conference Weekend" this weekend.  I understand it is something to do with the Mormon Church, but what is it?  It sounds like it is a big thing.  I met several people from out of town near the state capitol building yesterday that were here for it.  I have also seen Conference weekend sales, etc.

Did my running early again this morning.  It was a little cold.  I wish it would warm up a little.  What happened to the nice warm weather we were having a couple of weeks ago.  When does it start to warm up here in Utah??

I did 10 miles this morning.  I started out at 8:00/mile pace, but I had a lot of things on my mind that made me a little upset, and as I got upset the pace seemed to get faster and faster.   The last little bit I think I ended up closer to running 7:30/mile.
